Je suis arrivée hier par le train de nuit pris de Magdoa à Goa vers Allupuzha dans l’état du Kerala, là où mon coeur bat encore un peu plus fort et pas uniquement à cause des bien jolis garçons.

Avant de reprendre le fil conducteur de ce périple, à savoir l’hommage à la très particulière coopérative des Indian Coffee Houses, je tiens à boucler l’épisode de Goa en vous présentant Marie Börsch.

La musique est quasi omniprésente à Goa et je dois reconnaître que les DJ’s y maîtrisent un répertoire d’une richesse inouïe. J’ai néanmoins failli croire à une hallucination en entendant la voix du très élégant Arthur Teboul.

Je suis donc la trace sonore hypnotique et découvre un endroit d’un raffinement extrême, une déco décalée, originale et soignée: le café “La Plage” (en français) où je m’installe face à l’ouverture sur l’océan pour me désaltérer. Puis, à nouveau mes oreilles sont interpellées. Cette fois par l’accent français d’une dame qui sert une table voisine. Je la salue, nous nous présentons, et conversons suffisamment pour que je découvre que Marie est une artiste aux talents multiples. Vois par toi-même : http://www.marieborsch.com/

Elle vit à Goa depuis 25 ans et a connu les délices et les charmes d’Arambol jadis puis ses transformations successives au fil du temps. J’apprends quelques jours plus tard qu’elle a aussi tourné deux vidéos à propos de ce berceau artistique. Elles sont disponibles sur You Tube, me dit-elle, mais doivent encore être retravaillées. Ai-je bien compris? Je les adore et tiens à te les faire découvrir car pour moi, Marie a réussi à capter l’âme de Goa, l’esprit créatif et communautaire et la fusion des genres dont j’ ai déjà parlé dans Goan Grooves…

Tant que j’y suis à te présenter Marie, j’aimerais aussi te faire découvrir un pan de l’histoire, qui est aussi son histoire, notre histoire. C’est un sujet délicat, que nous avons abordé au cours de notre première conversation et qui fait l’objet d’un documentaire qu’elle a tourné: Baby Cages. I arrived yesterday by the night train from Magdoa in Goa, heading to Allupuzha in the state of Kerala, where my heart still beats a little stronger, not only because of the cute boys.

Before continuing the narrative of this journey, paying tribute to the unique Indian Coffee Houses cooperative, I want to wrap up the Goa episode by introducing Marie Börsch.

While strolling along the long Morjim beach facing the Arabian Sea, I was amazed to hear the Malinche of Feu! Chatterton, a rhythm that fits well into the local psycho groove.

Music is almost omnipresent in Goa, and I must admit that the DJs here have an incredibly rich repertoire. I almost thought I was hallucinating when I heard the voice of the very smart Arthur Teboul.

I follow the hypnotic sound trail and discover a place of extreme refinement, with quirky, original, and well-crafted decor: the “La Plage” cafe (in French) where I sit facing the opening to the ocean to quench my thirst. Again, my ears are intrigued, this time by the French accent of a lady serving a nearby table. She has been living in Goa for 25 years, experiencing the delights and charms of Arambol in the past, and its successive transformations over time. I learn a few days later that she has also shot two videos about this artistic hub. They are available on YouTube, she tells me, but still need some reworking.

I love them and want to share them with you because, for me, Marie has managed to capture the soul of Goa, the creative and communal spirit, and the fusion of genres that I have already mentioned in Goan Grooves…
